Peptides for Women's Health

Caroline Glenn, PharmD, is joined by two other women to share real stories from three completely different stages of life — pre-menopause, perimenopause, and postmenopause. Wherever you are in this journey, there's a good chance you'll recognize yourself in one of these stories.

Updated Since This Call

This call was recorded April 28 — a few things have changed since. KLOW, a new all-in-one recovery peptide, has launched. Our peptides are becoming 100% made in the USA — down to the active ingredient — starting early-to-mid August. A new reusable, fully-adjustable dosing pen is launching around the same time. And especially relevant here: EllieMD now offers hormone replacement therapy for postmenopausal women — something that wasn't yet available when this call was recorded.

Every Phase of Being a Woman Has Its Own Fun Surprises

From the first hints of hormonal change to the other side of menopause, women are taught to suck it up, push through, and put themselves dead last. This call was built to say: you don't have to.

Migraines Sudden mood swings Zero libido Brain fog Stubborn weight Poor sleep Autoimmune flare-ups Thinning hair & skin changes

Where You Source This Matters

Caroline spent years as a consulting pharmacist vetting compounding pharmacies professionally, and personally tried five different companies herself before becoming affiliated with EllieMD. Every vial from EllieMD's pharmacy, CLOVERx, is individually compounded by prescription — not batched — and individually tested for purity and safety, not just tested by batch. As Caroline puts it: "This is not where you skimp. You don't want the discount version — when you inject something into your body, you cannot take it back."

Real Stories From the Call

Three Women, Three Stages

Caroline structured the whole call this way — so we're keeping it the same here.

Pre-Menopause

8–10 Debilitating Migraines a Month — and Every Test Came Back "Normal"

Angela's story

Angela's migraines built for years until she was having 8–10 a month, bad enough to send her back to bed with her hands pressed to her head. She saw doctor after doctor, ran every blood test — and kept hearing she was "the picture of health." She didn't think weight was the issue; at most she figured she had 10 pounds to lose. But Caroline recognized what was actually happening: migraines are driven by inflammation, and inflammation doesn't require a high BMI to treat. Angela started a microdose of Tirzepatide plus NAD+, and within weeks, both the inflammation and the migraines were gone. She later added MOTS-C for an extra boost of clear-headed alertness.

"I don't need to lose weight, I thought that maybe I had 10 pounds... but she knew the inflammation was what was causing my migraines. Clinical pharmacist Caroline was absolutely correct — it was absolutely game changing for me."
Perimenopause

"I Looked at My Husband and Said, I Think I'm Depressed"

Caroline's story

Caroline had never experienced depression in her life — anxiety, yes, but never this. At 42, that changed seemingly overnight: sudden rage at her husband for no reason, and a total loss of libido that had never been a problem before. Doctors put her on antidepressants, thyroid medication, and hormones, and kept telling her that her labs looked "normal." She tried Sermorelin — a growth hormone secretagogue that restores your body's own signaling rather than replacing hormones directly — and it changed her mood, her libido, her sleep, and helped preserve muscle tone. Separately, she also lost 63 pounds on Tirzepatide over about a year, watched her kidney function climb from 60% to 93%, and now uses Semax and Selank nasal sprays (she and her 23-year-old daughter each use one) for focus, calm, and mood.

"Sermorelin was huge for me and for my marriage. I stopped wanting to attack my husband for no reason."
Postmenopause

67 Pounds Down, and Inflammation Markers That Finally Listen

Robin's story

Robin, a longtime esthetician, went through menopause with zero support while also managing Graves' disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and an IgA deficiency — "menopause is not for sissies," as she puts it. She started on semaglutide through a local compounding pharmacy, then switched to Tirzepatide through EllieMD for dramatically fewer side effects, and is now 67 pounds down over about a year. She added NAD+ at six months, then GHK-Cu — specifically because rapid weight loss was aging her face and skin, which mattered enormously to her as an esthetician. The autoimmune impact surprised her most: her gut inflammatory markers dropped by 12,000 points, and her RA factor no longer shows up in bloodwork at all.

"It's time to jump over. Get a hold of these peptides before menopause totally takes you down."
The Cheat Sheet

Every Peptide Covered on This Call

Plus hormone replacement therapy, which launched after this recording.

GLP-1 / GIP

Tirzepatide

The dual-mechanism GLP-1. Caroline recommends it over semaglutide for nearly every woman — far less nausea, vomiting, and constipation.

Best for: weight loss, inflammation, longevity benefits.

Brain & Energy

NAD+

A coenzyme that clears brain fog and eases fatigue — several women on this call felt it almost immediately.

Best for: brain fog, low energy, cognitive clarity.

Metabolism

MOTS-C

"Exercise in a bottle" — supports the metabolism that starts quietly declining in your late 20s to early 30s.

Best for: alertness, metabolic support alongside a GLP-1.

Mood & Hormonal

Sermorelin

Restores your body's own growth hormone signaling rather than replacing hormones directly. The perimenopause peptide.

Best for: mood, libido, sleep, muscle tone.

Cognitive Focus

Semax

A nasal spray originally developed for extreme-stress performance. Sharpens focus and clears brain fog without overstimulating.

Best for: mental clarity, focus, productivity.

Calm & Focus

Selank

A gentler nasal spray, often paired with Semax. Modulates mood, anxiety, and stress without sedating or numbing.

Best for: anxiety, stress, emotional steadiness.

Beauty & Repair

GHK-Cu

A regenerative peptide that boosts collagen and shifts your body out of an inflammatory state and into repair mode.

Best for: skin, hair, and calming autoimmune-driven inflammation.

Sleep & Pain

DSIP

Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide — deepens sleep and has been studied for pain modulation, including fibromyalgia.

Best for: deep sleep, chronic pain support.

New · Hormonal

HRT

Launched after this call. True hormone replacement — different from Sermorelin, which restores signaling rather than replacing hormones directly.

Best for: postmenopausal women, alongside or instead of a secretagogue.

From the Q&A

Questions Everyone Was Asking

What Happens When You Stop?

If you've struggled with your weight most of your adult life, Caroline recommends treating this like the chronic condition it is and staying on it long-term — GLP-1s have been studied for over 20 years and are meant for sustained use. If you do want to come off, taper down slowly and stay at each lower dose for a while before dropping further. The people who "gain it all back" almost always stopped cold-turkey instead of tapering strategically.

Why Tirzepatide Over Semaglutide, Especially for Women

Tirzepatide works on two receptor sites instead of one, which means less reliance on gastric slowing — and dramatically less nausea, vomiting, and severe constipation. Caroline is blunt about it: after working with hundreds of patients, she's found men tend to tolerate semaglutide reasonably well, but women largely don't.

A Word on Retatrutide

Retatrutide is a new "triple agonist" — it adds a third mechanism (a glucagon receptor) beyond what tirzepatide already does, and it isn't legitimately available yet outside of clinical trials; anything else is research-grade or gray market. The weight loss numbers are dramatic, but that third mechanism has also been linked to arrhythmias in trials, which is why Caroline doesn't consider it a good long-term option — tirzepatide's cardiovascular benefits make it the better choice for sustained use. Want similar results without that risk? Combining tirzepatide with MOTS-C is already showing comparable results.

The Muscle Loss Myth

GLP-1s don't directly cause muscle loss — losing weight too quickly without enough protein or resistance training does, regardless of what caused the weight loss. Caroline's rule of thumb: 0.8 to 1 gram of protein per pound of your ideal body weight (not your current weight), plus moving your body and lifting.

And on personalization: when Angela took her very first dose and couldn't make herself eat, Caroline didn't celebrate the appetite loss — she immediately had her cut the dose in half. "This is a tool to help support you and your goals. This is not to starve you."
